After 13 Years of Helping Other Cats in the Shelter, Archie Finally Finds His Forever Home!

Thirteen years ago, a tiny tabby kitten arrived at Mid Hudson Animal Aid, a no-kill shelter located in Beacon, New York. Shelter workers named the wee one of a feral kitten Archie, and Archie grew up at the shelter. He befriended the other cats, socialized litters of kittens and watched his feline friends leave again and again as they found their forever homes.

Archie became a staple at the rescue. It wasn’t until December, when the shelter shared a photo of him on its Instagram account, that volunteer Jennifer Blakeslee learned Archie had spent his entire life at the shelter.Until recently, Archie had lived his entire life at Mid Hudson Animal Aid.

“I had no idea,” she said. “See, he’s very feral. He does fine with other cats, but is terrified of people, which vastly reduces the likelihood of his getting adopted.”

Blakeslee had recently adopted one of Archie’s closest furry mates, a deaf, toothless, half-blind Siamese named Eddie, and Eddie’s departure had left Archie very lonely and depressed. So Blakeslee, determined to find Archie a home of his own, helped Eddie write a letter to who else — but Santa Clause.

“I posted a photo of [Archie] and Eddie cuddling at the shelter to Instagram with a “Dear Santa” letter, and it went viral,” she said.

“Dear Santa,” the letter reads. “I’d like you to meet Archie. He was my best friend when i was at the shelter that saved my life …He’s been at the shelter for THIRTEEN YEARS, ever since he was a kitten. That’s a human’s entire time in school, plus kindergarten. He’s very shy, but he’s also very sweet and gets along with other cats. And he really, really, really, really wants to find his forever home. And that’s what I want for Christmas, Santa.”Archie the tabby calmed down other cats at the shelter, but he really bonded with Eddie, the Siamese cat.

The power of social media

The photo of Archie and Eddie was shared literally hundreds of times on Instagram, and seen by people across the nation, including Chicago resident Jennifer Baird. “I understood the entire at Archie socialized the majority of kitties at the shelter but was never chosen for a home. It broke my heart,” she said. “I saw that he was in New York and waited a day or so for someone to speak up as I live in Chicago.”

After just a couple days of seeing people post again and again that they wished they could do something but couldn’t, Baird stepped in. “That’s when I responded to Jennifer and said I’ll take him. I’m in Chicago. I need help in getting him here to me.”

Baird has rescued numerous cats, often taking in abandoned ones that she finds on the street, and Archie was going to be her 14th rescue. The fact that he was feral didn’t phase her. “I have had feral cats and have a great understanding of their needs and embrace that,” she said.

It took several weeks for the shelter to coordinate travel, but soon a plan was put in place. Archie would take a road trip to Chicago, as this would be much better for the skittish senior cat. A couple of people volunteered to make the drive, and Archie passed his pre-transport vet check with absolutely no problem. The only hurdle left was the costs of the transport.

Blakeslee set up a YouCaring campaign, setting a goal of raising $750, and she shared it on Instagram. “It got shared like mad, and we met our goal in less than an hour,” she said. “In fact, people kept donating, and as a result, we’ll be able to donate $250 to the shelter.”

                                                     Archie the cat’s travel logue.

Home at last

Archie has been home for a few days now, and Baird says he’s making great progress in adjusting to her and her other rescue cats. “I see that he wants to be friends with his new sisters and brother so badly, and I know this will happen over time. Everyone is getting adjusted, and right now we have time on our side,” she said.

Archie is no longer hiding very much nor is very depressed, and he enjoys spending time in his new cat bed. He’s even come closer to Baird while eating his treats.

“Archie is like my other feral,” she said. “They want their love and affection to come from their siblings — not humans. He has to develop trust, and I want him to know that this relationship is about his safety and creature comforts — not about me having an affectionate kitty.”

‘Archie so badly wants to be friends with his brother, Hershey,’ Baird said.

Baird says she’s still shocked by the outpouring of support she’s received from the people on social media, but she’s grateful for all the kindness being sent her way. “My biggest thank you is to Jennifer. She stood up and told Archie’s story. She’s the hero. Without her, Archie’s life may as well have ended in the shelter where it began.”

Blakeslee hopes that Archie’s story will somehow inspire other people to adopt shelter cats, especially those that are often overlooked.

“The message here is that every cat deserves a chance — the senior cats and the special-needs cats,” she said. “The effort involved in caring for them becomes completely worth it when they start to trust you and start treating your home like it’s their home.”

As for Archie, he won’t need anyone to write letters to Santa on his behalf this year. He’ll be spending the holidays at home with his brand new family.

Cat and Dog Show an Incredible Bond Built with the Warmest Cuddles

PHOTO: PEXELS/YULIYA KAZANTSEVA

Television shows and films often depict the rivalry between cats and dogs. It’s always a hilarious addition to comedic acts, where each side attempts to prove that their species is much superior. Cats & Dogs is a famously known movie that uniquely portrayed pets. The storyline will keep you watching until the end. Will their owners notice what is happening? Who will be the victor in the ongoing war to achieve their individual goals?

Garfield is also a movie reference that shows a cat’s animosity toward dogs, but it is one-sided. But as the movie goes on, Garfield and Odie become best buds and great pets for Jon. In reality, harmony can be achieved when you live with felines and canines.

One couple, Ashley and Jason, witness the loving friendship between Sarge and Conan in their everyday life. It was a surprise to the couple when they learned how their beloved pets spend time with each other of their own free will.

PHOTO: YOUTUBE/GEOBEATS ANIMALS

“Sarge learned that if I flop in front of Conan, he might start giving me kisses,” Jason shared. The little pupper would just approach Conan and lay beside him, and Conan would give him something like a hug; it was just the most adorable sight. It became their special thing, which they do daily. They really have built an amazing bond with warm cuddles and tiny kisses. Conan is the sweetest orange tabby, and who wouldn’t want to cuddle with him?

PHOTO: YOUTUBE/GEOBEATS ANIMALS

Aside from Conan, the couple also has another cat named Eleanor. She’s a shy, timid furball, and, according to Jason, Eleanor doesn’t know how to interact with the cuddle buddies. “Unfortunately for Eleanor, it’s team brothers, and Eleanor doesn’t get in on the cuddle session very often,” Jason explained. When Sarge is asleep, Eleanor will cuddle next to him, but when the pup wakes up, she immediately moves away. There might be an awkward vibe between the two, but there is no room for hate in their family.

“I’ve seen pets cuddle up to each other, but I’ve never seen a dog flop over and beg for love from a cat like that,” says Jason. The couple also shared that there are days that Conan doesn’t feel like giving hugs. Sarge would try and ask for one, but when all else fails, he goes for a belly rub from Ashley. Clearly, Sarge is the baby in the family, knowing he can easily get what he wants.

The couple created a TikTok and Instagram account for their fur babies. You can see more cuddling sessions from Sarge and Conan, and the lovely Eleanor is also there. You’ll get more updates about their friendship — photos and videos showing that Sarge and Eleanor love each other even without daily cuddles.

A Thai Navy Officer Saves Four Kitties from Drowning

Not long ago, the Internet was overjoyed with a story about four kittens that would have drowned for sure if it wasn’t for the heroics of one man. A boat was capsized in open sea near the island of Koh Adang, trapping eight crew members and four kitties. The crew called for help but the boat was already sinking quickly.

Luckily, the Thai Navy managed to come just as the boat was already on its way down. The crew members were rescued quickly and without problems. Upon closer inspection looking for an oil spill, one office noticed four kittens on a crane-like structure, so he immediately took his shirt off, put on a vest, and swam in the waters to save the kittens.

He was able to do so just before the ship sank. If he didn’t arrive on time, it could have been a cat-astrophe. Pics of the courageous act were shared online and the office, Thatsaphon Saii, became a worldwide Internet hit.

We’re grateful that he swam to save the kitties – many others wouldn’t have done it. He risked his life to save them, and that makes him more of a man than anyone else. Check out the pics yourself and see how the kitties did later – the pics will melt your heart.

Wounded Mama Cat Hung on Just Long Enough to Make Sure Her Babies Were Safe

Wounded Mama Cat Hung on Just Long Enough to Make Sure Her Babies Were Safe
FACEBOOK PREV Composition NEXT Composition.

It’s a happy ending to a veritably sad story. A wounded ma cat set up on the roadside couldn’t survive, but she lived long enough to make sure her babies did!

“I came home a little after 6am from working a double shift. As I was walking my dog, she (my dog) noticed something across the street and I saw that it was a tortoiseshell cat just laying there that had been hit by a car. I assumed she was dead, but I walked closer to her and noticed that she was breathing and she moved her head a bit,” said Ginger via reddit.

“I took my dog home and quickly grabbed a cat carrier and a soft towel and put her inside and my fiancé (Matt) and I rushed her to my vet so we could be waiting outside when it opened at 7:30.

The vet took her and said she’d take a look at her and see what the best course of action would be, and that she would call me later with her plan. They put the cat on a heating pad and was given pain meds and got lots of cuddles. The cat had head trauma and she (vet) thought the kitty had abdominal swelling and took an X-ray but it turns out she was PREGNANT with two very large full term kittens! Later on she texted me and I broke down. To me, this is a testament of a mother’s love.”

The Gulley Park Pets Clinic did absolutely everything they could to help the cat but to no avail. “While the injuries to that sweet mama were too severe to overcome that tough cookie hung in there long enough for us to find out why she hanging on. The reason was…. these two little beauties. We delivered these sweet babies and then comforted their mama as she could finally let go. Good job mama. Good job Ginger and Matt! There are still good people out there folks!”

Two weeks later, Charlemain and Jasper were adopted together! A very happy ending!

“If it’s the last thing I do, my babies are going to make it.”

Army Soldier Gives Stray Cat From Kuwait A New Home in the USA

slapdash cat from Kuwait has clicked with a Kentucky soldier, Sergeant Daryl Casey, and given him a sense of home during his deployment.

“ When we first got then, we were just getting settled in and there was a ma cat who was kind of hanging around our area. Not too long after we got in and got settled in, she had gibs, ” saidSgt. Casey who works on copters at Camp Buehring in Kuwait.

One of these gibs chose Daryl. He was named Stanley.
“ One of the particular little gibs, he and I just kind of clicked. He’s seen me coming by and he ’d come running over to me and rub against my legs. I ’d sit down and he ’d jump in my stage. When everybody sees him walking around, they go ‘ Hey there’s Daryl’s cat! ’ They always say, ‘ Hey are you looking for your daddy? He’s right over there! ‘, ” he said.

Stanley had always been there to keep him company when he felt down or homesick.

“ Christmas and Thanksgiving were, for me, really tough. Those are big family gatherings and I was sitting at work feeling kind of blue and notoriety opens the door and then comes Stanley into the office. He kind of looks at me and jumps up in my stage. You can kind of see from those filmland he just kind of lays up beside me like ‘ Hey man, it’s going to be ok. I ’m then ’, ”Sgt. Casey said.

“ We had some catnip mice that people had transferred and those pussycats went crazy for that! ” he said.
Sgt. Casey could n’t stand the study of leaving Stanley before. He reached out for help from Nowzad, a deliverance group which has helped colors get the creatures they espoused from Afghanistan to their home countries.

“ Getting home will be an absolutely joyous event but just to see that little cat’s smiling face when I come in the house, that’s just going to be commodity. I ca n’t stay for it, ”Sgt. Casey said.

“ People say you ’re saving this cat’s life and I ’m like, well, in a way he’s kind of saved me just by being there for me, ”Sgt. Casey said.

Dog Immediately Relaxes In Family’s Arms After Spending 5 Years Looking For Them

When Evanston Animal Shelter canine director Tanya Ohanian got a call about a canine set up hard in Cook County, Illinois, she allowed the doggy was just a original slapdash.

What Ohanian did n’t know was that this canine had been taken from her family, and had spent the once five times trying to get back home.
Canine standing in lot
Safely at the sanctumstaff scrutinized the doggy for a microchip, but the information they set up listed was n’t current. They allowed it might be a dead end.
But soon, with the help of a original association called Microchip nimrods, the sanctum miraculously attained a more detailed account of the canine’s history.
The new information revealed that the doggy was n’t a nameless slapdash. The canine’s name was Dottie, and she had a family who ’d been missing her for five times.

Soon enough, Ohanian was on the phone with Dottie’s familytelling them the amazing news — their stylish friend was back, and she was staying for them.

Dottie’s pater , George Lovinghad spent so important time missing his canine that he could n’t believe the news.

“ I cried numerous nights about it, ” Loving told The Dodo.

Nowsurprisingly, she was back in his arms.

“ We were all veritablyveritably happy, ” Ohanian said.

Dottie’s family was n’t sure if the doggy would fete them after so important time, but it was soon clear that Dottie knew exactly who they were.

“ There was noway vacillation, ” Ohanian said. “ It was just beautiful. ”

You can watch the moment Dottie reunites with a member of her family then
Indeed sanctum staff could n’t help but exfoliate a gash as they watched the canine incontinently relax into the touch of her loved one.

“ It was emotional for all of us, ” Ohanian said. “ I suppose we were each in gashes. ”
Canine laying on bottom
It’s still unclear what Dottie’s trip for the once five times involved. Her family may noway know exactly what happed while she was gone, but that does n’t matter now — they ’re just excited she’s eventually home.
To help other tykes like Dottie, make a donation to the Evanston Animal Shelter then and to Microchip nimrods then.
