Rare Pink Elephant Baby Spotted In South African Wildlife Park

It is believed the unique calf is around two or three weeks old at the time of filming and is definitely the smallest in the herd. It’s still unclear from the clip if the calf is a true albino or if the pink/white coloring is caused by a genetic condition called leucism.

Albinism is a disease that causes a complete lack of melanin, this includes natural pigments that give color to skin and eyes.

Because of this, true albino animals don’t only have reddish-pink skin, but they would also have very pale eyes as well (often pink or red as the blood vessels show through). Leucism causes only a partial loss of pigmentation, so it doesn’t affect the eyes.

Whether albino or leucistic, this tiny elephant has a tough road ahead of it. Animals carrying these conditions stick out of their natural habitat making them more susceptible to attack from predators.

They are often sensitive to light and may have health problems associated with genetic mutations.

Unfortunately, albino/leucistic wildlife are easy targets for natural predators as they stand out in their habitat and struggle to blend in.

However, it’s not to say that the adorable calf won’t make it through to adulthood – we’ve seen sightings of adult cougars, dolphins, and humpback whales which suggest that some all-white individuals do manage to beat the odds.

Albinism is somewhat common in Asian elephants, but there are only a handful of sightings on record when it comes to their larger African cousins.

In the Greater Kruger Park, the last known sighting dates back to 2016 when a calf, similar in age and appearance to the latest find, was spotted in the north of the reserve .

Just across the border in the country of Botswana, an albino calf was photographed by a BBC film crew in 2009. This white youngster seemed to show signs that it was aware of its increased susceptibility to the harsh African sun.

“Already the two-to-three-month-old calf seems to be walking in the shade of its mother,” Ecologist Dr Mike Chase told the BBC at the time. “I have learned that elephants are highly adaptable, intelligent and masters of survival.”

2 Kittens Are Brought to a Yard by a Cat in Search of a Better Life for Them

A grey cat appeared in a yard scrounging around for food scraps. She was very hungry and came up to the homeowners for something to fill her belly.

The family wanted to help the friendly stray before the weather became too harsh to bear. Nadia, an animal rescuer based in Montreal, Canada, saw their plea and sprang into action.

When she arrived at their home, she spotted the long-haired feline and two kittens that had been brought along. The cat had been trying to feed her little family, and Nadia was determined to get them all off the streets.

The cat mother and her precious two finally bade farewell to the outdoors that day. They arrived at Chatons Orphelins Montreal, a cat rescue, where a foster home was awaiting them.

“The cat was named Melbie, and her kittens were Loupix (boy) and Lio (girl),” the rescue shared.

While the younglings quickly came out of their shells and embraced the luxuries of indoor life, Melbie took her time to explore her new abode, and slowly ventured outside her comfort zone.

“She was a bit unsure at first (having lived outside for so long), but her curiosity won each time. She became more confident and played a little more every day.”

Once Melbie mustered up her courage, she started to seek affection from her people. She would rub her face against their legs, join them in their bedroom at night and curl up next to them to sleep.

“It was beautiful to see how she evolved into a more confident cat,” the rescue shared.

Cat eludes his owner’s control and the original shelter won’t return him!

Rae Bees, a Chicago-based artist, had had a difficult month. She has been battling in court for custody of her cherished cat for the past month! Reggie the cat, so named after comedian Reggie Watts, ran away from Bees’ house and returned to the animal shelter from whence he had been adopted.

Just one day before Halloween, Bees’ cat broke out of her house, and she instantly posted a meme on Facebook asking for assistance. Reggie here, and I’m lost (again). I’m not wearing a collar. I might have been kidnapped. I’ll get away once more, the cat’s image declared.

The cat was recognised on Chicago’s streets shortly after that. Someone called Feline Friends, the group from which Reggie was adopted, after scanning her microchip. Reggie was given back to the shelter, and after looking Rae Bees up on Facebook, they made the decision to keep the cat.

Reggie was adopted by Bees five years ago, and as part of the adoption agreement, she agreed not to allow her cat outside. Reggie was frequently featured in photos posted on Bees’ Facebook site, and there were previously previous posts appealing for assistance in locating the missing cat.

In defence of herself, Bees claimed that although she forbids Reggie from going outside, he always has a cunning plan to get away. Reggie’s return to Bees’ house is simply forbidden by Feline Friends, and a court hearing is imminent.

The company claims that she broke the agreement, but Bees’ lawyers counter that it isn’t enforceable. According to Mariana Karampelas, one of Bees’ attorneys, “It’s not an enforceable contract,” she told the Chicago Tribune.

Bees is permitted to see Reggie for one hour per week until the matter is resolved, and she is determined to win the custody dispute for her cherished cat.

“I believe that [Feline Friends] believed I was a simple art student and would abandon him like I didn’t care. But I’m so determined to attempt to win him back. To me, he is like a family,” Bees remarked.

A couple found this abandoned kitten, who was unable to meow, and helped her regain her voice

A sweet couple was strolling down the street a few weeks ago when they spotted a little kitten wandering around and seemed confused. When the kitten tried to meow but failed, they stopped to pet it and were perplexed.

The kitten was severely underweight and in need of assistance. The kitten was taken to the Friends For Life Rescue Network by Justin and Erica after they searched up neighbouring shelters. The shelter was at a loss as to what to do when Justin abandoned the cat and disappeared for a week. He later went back and informed them he could foster her.

In the interim, the kitten was taken to the doctor by Jacqueline DeAmor, co-founder of the Friends for Life Network, where it was discovered that it was very underweight at just one pound. She was also severely dehydrated and covered in fleas, but fortunately the veterinarian was able to heal her.

They took the kitten home and gave it the name Whisper when Justin and Erica returned. The kitten was nurtured by them, and as a result, she became stronger every day and now enjoys cuddling with her rescuers.

Whisper doesn’t respond to sounds like other kitties do, Justin and Erica noticed. They discovered she is deaf after taking her to the veterinarian. After a few weeks, her voice did return, therefore the moniker Whisper is no longer appropriate for her.

This four-year-old cat who has been perpetually surprised was not expected to survive

Kevin, a Russian blue just discovered in critical condition in a parking lot. The cat was taken urgently to the veterinarian, where the staff discovered that he was critically ill and believed he wouldn’t survive. The person who now looks for Kevin, Tailah, claims that Kevin was a helpless cat when he was taken to the veterinarian. He explains, “He would peck his meal so hard he’d basically nail his head against the floor.”

Kevin has hydrocephalus, a disorder brought on by too much fluid in the brain. Despite all odds, the cat managed to survive, but physicians were very certain that from that moment forward, he would experience seizures.

But the cat is in wonderful condition now, four years later. He doesn’t experience seizures, and he enjoys his life with his owner.

According to Tailah, he had a gut instinct that Kevin would live. The cat never left his side after they became immediately attached to one another. Now that Kevin is turning 4 years old, he is undoubtedly delighted to have Tailah at his side.

Only 4 weeks old, he was discovered in a dire circumstance in a parking lot.

He was transported to the veterinary clinic because he was different from other kittens and had a terrible medical issue.

His owner told Tailah, “His prognosis when he first arrived at the clinic was not positive at all.

He would physically smack his head on the floor while gnawing on the meal with such vigour.

“I was concerned that his vision was more worse than we first believed, yet he kept getting better!”

The main worry was that Kevin might have a seizure.

But four years later, he still hasn’t had one.

He is only allowed indoors.

Despite this, he has access to our side courtyard and a balcony with a castle and toys.

He is such a plaything!

Like any other cat, he makes laps around the house around two in the morning. He is also quite affectionate.

I had a gut instinct that he would turn out to be a miraculous kitten.

“…but I wasn’t sure if that was because I became linked to him within the first five seconds of meeting him.”

and was aware that I would be unable to let him go.

Taliah explained, “Kevin has hydrocephalus, a disorder that involves fluid on the brain.

Pregnant dog shares her space with the cat after she needs a place to give birth for safety

Despite the widespread belief that dogs and cats are antagonistic toward one another, some dogs and cats seem to get along fairly well while living together. They will become friends if you grow them together, but it rarely occurs in the wild. However, this video will demonstrate that it is feasible. In the video, a pregnant dog shares her space with the cat so the cat feels protected as it searches for a pot to give birth in.

A man who discovered the dog outside when she was pregnant gave her a doghouse. He built a little doghouse right away so the dog would be protected from the wind and rain. But when the man returned to check on the canine, He couldn’t have anticipated such a large surprise. In the doghouse, both animals were sleeping beside their puppies and kittens.

It appears that the expectant dog permitted the mother cat to enter the doghouse safely so she could give birth to her litter. Millions of people have watched the man’s video of the animals that he captured online.

The main character in the film commented, “How fantastic – the small dog gave birth to healthy pups on September 1 and a week later, the cat entered the doghouse and gave birth to a litter of cats.

Clearly in need of a safe place to give birth, the sad cat approached the dog, who gladly accepted her. “Some people might believe I’m telling lies, but the cats weren’t put inside. There are 3 puppies and 4 kittens; the area resembles a maternity unit. The cat and dog get along just well, which is the best part, the man remarked.

Despite the myth that cats and dogs are absolute enemies, this video shows that this is not the case.

The images from a new mother’s newborn photo shoot with a kitten have stolen our hearts

A Michigan woman finally completed the full newborn kitten photo session that thousands of people from all over the world had been asking for.

Kitty Shaub, a 30-year-old photographer from Benton Harbor, specialises in taking pictures of newborns. Kitty and her husband made the decision to get her 5-year-old daughter a cat last year. Kitty was hurriedly forced to add an unplanned member to her family when Kitty’s friend’s cat recently had a litter of six kittens, but she’s currently enjoying it. They gave the cat the name Luna, and Amelia and Luna are inseparable.

“They spend all of their time together — they eat and sleep together, and Luna joins Amelie when she plays with the dollhouse!” Cat says.

Kitty had an idea when she observed Luna resting on the couch one day as she was getting ready for a new picture shoot. Since Luna sleeps for nearly the whole day, as she claims, getting ready for the photo session wasn’t difficult. The outcomes of her headband and fabric dressing of the cat have been amazing. We’ve all been waiting for Kitty to take images of Luna that are adorable in every way.

With a smile, Kitty recalls, “I put her in a salad dish from my kitchen, and everything worked out perfectly. We attempted to wake her up, but she was snug in there and continued to sleep the entire time. I don’t believe she cared since she would do almost anything for you.

The moment Kitty posted the images on Facebook, the Internet erupted. Kitty claims that she had no idea that the images would be shared more than 65 000 times. When she saw how popular the pictures were, she created a calendar out of them, sold each one for $20, and gave the proceeds to a nearby shelter. What a cool thing!

Snuggly Tabby Refuses To Let Go After Woman Hugs Cat In Pet Store

Recently, Jessica Parken and Andy assisted one cat in finding a loving home. While they were out, they made the decision to check out the animals at the neighbourhood shelter. They were looking at kittens, birds, and different kinds of fish when a couple cats drew their attention because they love cats. Jessica scooped up a cat to cuddle with it and say goodbye before leaving the store, but the cat wouldn’t let go.

The lovely guy threw his arms around her neck as soon as she attempted to place him back in his cage. He was obviously pleading with them to take him home, and Jessica was devastated.

He stayed here for two weeks, and it turns out that he’s not very good around children and other animals. Clutch is definitely going to be his name because he grasped onto me when I tried to put him down,” she stated. She cried as she left the cat behind since she knew what would happen next.

He actually grabbed onto me when I went to put him back, and I started crying. That he wasn’t here with me hurt my heart.

Clutch was unable to enter Jessica and Andy’s residence since they have an 18-year-old cat and a toddler at home. They discovered a family for him instead. Jessica shared a video of the cat fighting to stay alive in the hopes that someone would adopt him. As soon as the video became viral, Clutch was sure to find a home.

People were waiting in line to adopt Clutch when she returned to the shelter. Clutch had good luck on January 24th since he moved into a new house.

8 baby hedgehogs that lost their parents are now being cared for by a sympathetic cat!

8 baby hedgehogs that lost their parents are now being cared for by a sympathetic cat!

Sadly, the mother of these 8 newborn hedgehogs perished in an accident, leaving them orphaned. Fortunately, some people located them and transported them to the Russian Seaside zoo in Vladivostok.

The zoo staff was doing everything they could to care for the orphaned hedgehogs. Unfortunately, they were unable to continuously bottle-feed them. The young infants flatly refused to consume food from syringes or bottles for whatever reason.

A wonderful cat named Musya stepped in at this precise moment to assist with caring for the hedgehogs. In the end, her foster children received a wonderful mother who was willing to feed them every two hours.

Musya did not just give the little hedgehogs food. She was quite affectionate with them and looked after them through the night.

These hoglets wouldn’t have survived if she hadn’t intervened to lend a hand.

They are all currently maturing and will be released into the wild when they are ready!
